Feedback

Tien asked me some questions about OSC's procedure and regulations.
I post her questions as well as my answers so that you guys might find
the answer for yourself.
Question:
As you said, the members will base on the time I choose and register,
and it will be first come first served, will it be quite unfair for
members who update at the last minute and unable to register for
themselves? I think it'll be better if we advise volunteers to claim
their session 1 week in advance, so all members can see.
Answer:
I do agree with you that volunteers should claim their session as soon
as possible. 1 week in advance is good. :)
However, I will not restrict you on that. My advice is that you should
claim at least 3 days in advance.
Question:
The google calendar allow us to book session for 1 hour, but for me I
think it wont be that long for a volunteer to interview the member. I
mean it can be short as 20 mins for interviewing and 10 mins more for
comments from volunteer.
Answer:
You are free to decide how long your session will be. If you double
click on the calendar, you will see the whole page of time editing.
You can edit the time there, you can make it 30 min or 1 hour or even
2 hours.
You can do more than one tests, so you might allow 1 hour for a
session.
Question:
About the language during the session, will it be totally english?
their might be problems during the interviewing as sometimes both cant
understand each other :) . Will you set some rules for that ?
Answer:
About the language, I don't set any rule for you guys. You might use
Vietnamese if misunderstanding occurs.
Question:
About the topic for the session, who will take care of that ? and
during the formal interview, cards should be available for candidate
to draw for their topic. So how it will be by talking online ?
Answer:
About the topic for the session, it's not topic but the whole IELTS
speaking tests. Volunteers must have the tests before the session.
That's why I create Google Group. You can come to Google Group to pick
any test there. You might also want to share with us the tests that
you found or have.
The real topic card cannot be available. From my experience, I just
simply type the topic in the chat box. If you're more professional,
you can make a topic card on Word document and send it to the member.
Question:
Will it be a must for the webcam ?
Answer:
You do not necessarily show your webcam. It might be helpful but it's
all up to you.
Question:
Those are questions so far, hope to hear from you soon. And would you
please tell me about your experiences after the first session?  it
will be great if I can learn sth from it in order to conduct mine.
Answer:
My experience for the first session is a little bit frustrating. The
first registered member was busy and didn't show up. So, I had to call
the other members. This experience is valuable. Next time, we should
always have a back up list/ waiting list.
